“I wish there had been something like this when I left college”. Franko B
Based on 2002's successful pilot project, Everything … is a day of information and advice about Live Art for graduates and emerging artists.
Live Art is an exciting area of practice offering artists new artistic approaches and creative contexts. But it is also an area of practice without clear signposts or career development paths. Outside educational institutions or other support structures it is often possible for younger artists wanting to develop a professional practice to feel bemused and phased.
Everything … will offer an introduction to the Live Art sector and system, a sense of how things work, practical information about what's on offer and a chance to learn from the experience of established practitioners. Subjects to be addressed include creative approaches to Collaborations and Convergences, Marketing and Promotion, Training and Research, and working Within and Without institutional frameworks.
Contributors include the artists Lois Weaver, Ansuman Biswas, Barby Asante, Jyll Bradley, Nina Pope, Leslie Hill, Richard Layzell, and Simon Casson (Duckie), Lois Keidan (Live Art Development Agency) , Manick Govinda (Artsadmin) and Philip Stanier (New Work Network).
The day will close with Embracing Failure a Performance Lecture by Richard Dedomenici.
Ticket prices for Everything … have been kept to only £5 (including bag lunch) and are free to New Work Network members.
Places are limited and must be reserved in advance by sending an email to R.Sharp@qmul.ac.uk or phoning 0207 882 5196
East End Collaborations 2003 is financially assisted by Arts Council England.
