I Don’t Want a Telly but I bet I Could Wrestle One Out of Your Arms
A Black Friday extravaganza
Project Summary
This DIY proposes to intervene into the recent phenomenon of ‘Black Friday’. The DIY will culminate in a group of artists camping overnight outside a major retail store in order to take part in the black Friday sales rush the following morning, and then selling the items at a carboot sale the following day. Before this, participants will take part in a workshop to prepare them physically and mentally for the ordeal which awaits.
This project is conceived to interrogate issues around identity in times of financial difficulty within the UK, particularly issues of class, and a playful way of intervening into the consumer culture of capitalism.
