When you’re high or low, on the edge or in bed. When your emotions have emotions and things get risky. Whether being creative is impossible or your life blood. From the edges of acute emotional pain to healthy anxiety, to the spaces between mad/neurodiverse, other forms of disability, class, race, gender, sexuality, and more.
During times of brutal austerity politics Last Night Art Saved My Life asks: Are we surviving? How are we surviving? How can we support each other better? Can we flourish? Can art help save us individually and collectively when psychological pain is intense? What can institutions and arts professionals do better to support mad artist in our moments of pain and distress?
Artists Selina Thompson, Lucy Hutson, Bobby Baker, Hana Madness, Daniel Oliver and the vacuum cleaner will present short provocations on their strategies for survival, sharing what they have found works, what doesn’t and how things can be better.
Last Night Art Saved My Life will be an informal and relaxed event and will include a practical session of creating ‘access and equality riders’ for artists and audiences.
Drinks and vegan snacks will be served
