Scottee: I Made It – London book launch

LADA, The Garrett Centre, 117A Mansford Street, E2 6LX
Thursday 6 September, 7pm, Free

Artist and weirdo Scottee is celebrating 10 years of making a mess, causing a fuss and getting ideas above his station with two new publications in collaboration with the Live Art Development Agency (LADA). Scottee: I Made It is a swanky archive book documenting a decade of making it, and The Outsiders’ Handbook is a free survival guide for queer and trans* young people.

Please join Scottee and special guests to mark the launch of both publications in London and Manchester. Exclusive signed copies of Scottee: I Made It will be available to buy at both events.

In London Scottee will be joined by Jen Harvie, editor of Scottee: I Made It and Professor of Contemporary Theatre and Performance at Queen Mary, University of London. Together they’ll be chewing the fat on activism, survival, class, queerness and, of course fat!

There will also be exclusive archive film screenings from Holly Revell and contributions from Travis Alabanza, Matty May, Asad Ullah, and Charlotte Cooper.

Scottee: I Made It and The Outsiders’ Handbook have been supported as part of LADA’s contribution to the Collaborative Arts Partnership Programme (CAPP), an innovative four-year collaborative arts programme co-funded by the European Union, and also forms part of LADA’s Restock Rethink Reflect Four on Live Art and Privilege (2016-18).

Scottee: I Made It is available to pre-order on Unbound.

From Your Retrospective

To accompany these publications, Scottee will host two nights of performances by show-offs, punters and die-hard fans, all re-enacting Scottee’s work – from memory – at the Roundhouse on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th September 2018 at 8pm.
We can’t promise this won’t be a shambles, but there will be a booze trolley if all else fails. More information here.
